New Model School Chronicles: A Cinematic Tale by Ageancy
Ageancy, a leading advertising agency in Mumbai and Pune, recently shot a film on New Model School, Dombvili at NMDC ground over a period of two full days.
As the second home, Schools serve a number of purposes in a child’s life. From making them learn the value of education; and importance of team work and socialization to giving them the confidence to face the world, Schools do it all. They become the place for children to spend their maximum time, pursue their education, learn new skills, and imbibe new knowledge.
One such school is New Model School located in Dombivli.
CONCEPTUALIZATION STAGE
As a precursor to the school film making, Ageancy team of Director, Photographer, Videographer, and Drone Videographer went to the school at Dombivli to study and understand the school; check out the IRB infra; and meet the school management team of Mr. Virendra D. Mhaiskar, Mr. Venugopal K,and Mr. Varghese Daniel, to know more about the school and get their insights on how they wanted the school film should be shot and made. The interaction with the management team helped the Ageancy team to conceptualize a detailed storyboard of the school film; what aspects of the school should be shot and how they should be shot.
SCRIPT MAKING & CASTING STAGE
After conceptualizing the making of the film, our team got the script sorted and ready, dived headlong into the meat of the pre-production stage. At this production stage, our team went through the whole script and picked out everything, that is, location, characters, costumes, visual and sound effects, prop, and other aspects that’s seen or heard in the film. They went through every last bit meticulously to find out if some crucial elements are missing or not. This was to make sure that everything is in order to prepare for the film shoot and post-production work.
Later, the Ageancy team met the New Model School management team of Mr. Virendra D. Mhaiskar, Mr. Venugopal K, and Mr. Varghese Daniel for the final purview of the script. During the meeting, a few changes were suggested which was accordingly done to give the finishing touches to the school film.
At the meeting, Ageancy team also discussed the shooting schedule; and went through the shooting script to figure out how many scenes can be shot each day. This helped the film creative crew to map out each scene in pictures; and visualize the school film before shooting began.
After the rough budget and schedule were got together, the Ageancy team was in a good position to put together a film crew as well as film resources. Then, they worked to arrange the casting for the school film which included the school boys and girls, teachers, and other staff members. Once that was done appropriately, the team auditioned them to act as per the school film script.
FILMING STAGE
Generally, it is easy to get lost during a shoot even with a small team. This can be especially more so if you’ve got a lot of castings, multiple actors, and a large crew. Things can quickly get more complicated.
The Ageancy team knew this very well and hence they maintained a shot list that kept the film project on track. This helped them to collect their thoughts and build a shooting schedule.
To make sure the shooting scenes goes off smoothly, the team director rehearsed with the film cast and prepped them up to get the film scenes in order.
Everything was set, the budget and schedule was set, the cast and crew lists updated, and the call sheets prepped to get ready to shoot.

The whole film shooting of New Model School was done at KMDC ground for two consecutive days.
POST-PRODUCTION STAGE
The post-production process is a highly collaborative process; and involved all the tasks associated with cutting raw footage; assembling the footage; adding sound dubbing and sound effects; to name a few. Working like a well-oiled unit, the team worked upon the editing and dubbing process to transform the raw footage into a polished film that showcased the charm and magic of New Model School, its settings, students and faculty, surroundings’, and so on.
With all aspects of the school film shoot over, everything was set for the film premiere and celebration.
The film was launched on 26th November, 2023.
The whole of Ageancy team pulled together like a well-integrated unit to strike a balance between creative, financial, and logistical goals. As a result, they were able to get the film shoot and inter-related aspects done within the budget successfully.
